Known for the individual character of its fabrics and wallpapers, Lewis & Wood has a wealth of designs that co-founder Stephen Lewis thinks of as ?unusual, we do put a lot of effort into being different.? All of their products share an intrinsically English quality ? from hunting scenes and charming pictorials of English countryside to folksy style prints designed by a trio of pensioners with a combined age of 232, to the beautiful trailing design of their bestselling Adam?s Eden (which has graced many a wall of houses featured in The English Home). A visit to the Lewis & Wood shop and showroom, housed in an old piano factory near Stroud, proves that this charm and humour ? evident in hundreds of fabrics hanging from the walls ? is born from the small, energised and closely knit team who lovingly develop each collection.
For Lewis, investing in their own on-site studio is highly important. Without it he feels a visit to the shop would be like ?going to a restaurant with no kitchen; you want to see where it started.?
