Barely touched for decades, this 1950s Bill Nimmo modern house in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, Scotland, is now up for sale.

There is a good reason for that. The house has been in the same family ownership since 1959.

Yes, Invermay was designed in 1959 by a then-young Lanarkshire architect called Bill Nimmo, who later made his name with Wm Nimmo & Partners, who had offices in Glasgow and London.

The father of the current seller worked closely with Bill on the design of the house, wanting to maximise the south-facing views over the garden and beyond over the Firth of Clyde. Note that on a clear day, you can see the hills of Arran in the distance. (image credit: Savills)

It?s a house that has been loved both inside and out over its lifetime, with very little change of any substance over the passing decades. Yes, the windows are likely to have been updated, the occasional fixture and some decor. But that?s pretty much it.

According to the seller, originality runs deep, right down to the original Armitage Shanks blue suite in one of the bathrooms, which, sadly, isn?t pictured. But many other details are. Yes, some updating will be required to bring it more in keeping wit...
